Peanuts

Posted by Cheryl on Sep 10 2006 | 4. Simplify on Thursday

This weekend included a bit of American iconoclastic DVD watching with the kids…Charlie Brown and the whole Peanuts gang.

And I’m thinking that this:

subliminally inspired this bit of practice spinning:

Peppermint yarn
I realised that, other than the quick spin to see how the wheel worked after piecing it together, I hadn’t sat down to have a real go at it…not with the time-and-attention-taking-weaving-fiasco-and-Christmas-knitting. So this afternoon, in a moment of quiet and rest, I spun a little peppermint and in my heart, if not with my feet, I was doing the Peanuts happy dance!

Looks great. How did the wheel feel after a good run on it??

  2. I liken it to the old VW bugs. It’s cute and small, but a bit rough and not fancy. It worked well, after a bit of adjustment. The wheel is a somewhat stiffer than yours and since it’s smaller overall, it takes more rotations to make progress. So, my leg gets a good workout. The only downside was in winding the yarn onto the skeinwinder, it didn’t want to come off the bobbin easily and my yarn broke. Not sure why. But, overall it suits my ‘I’m-not-doing-this-for-a-living’ spinning needs. I just need more time for practice.
