Thursday’s Post
Okay, so ‘boring’ and ‘uninspiring’ are not the best adjectives to use when doing a post, but every now and then ya gotta slog through some ‘plain ol’ vanilla’ knitting. Even the title is rather ho-hum…
Let’s see, it’s been weaving, coffee, fibre fun, flowers, vanilla, baked goods. Hmmm….a seeming absence of knitting lately. Not too helpful for my Knitter’s Treat Exchange treater, I suppose. Did I tell you I took the kids to see ‘Mr Bean’s Holiday’ today? Oh right, that wouldn’t be about knitting either, would it.
It’s not that I’m avoiding the topic, it’s just that….I’m rather uninspired with the projects I can post about and quite inspired about those which I can’t. Such irony….
But at least I will give an aran cable jumper update:
With all the gloriously warm weather in Dublin, this project has been ignominiously shifted to the corner for now. Back is done and have done a few rows on the front. A couple of projects to get through and then I’ll have to get back to it no matter what the weather, or it’ll end up in the ‘bored with it’ pile. That would be a shame as then I’d have no new jumper to wear when the weather gets cool again…which might be next week…you never know here….
Also to be cast on, a quick little gift project, using Twilley’s Freedom wool. Great for felting, if you’re so inclined.
And finally-
I dug out this ‘previously-frogged-yarn-as-it-wasn’t-manly-enough-for-a-Christmas-scarf’ to begin a personal project.
Yep, good and steady knitting. Sigh.

Good luck with all the knitting plans and projects. Must say that the aran looks great from what I can see. Knitters looked great on tv last evening and well done to you all. It looked just as welcoming on tv as it actually is. I love the knitting groups and all the great knitters I’ve met.

Childhood reading - or for that matter reading to one’s own children - brings back a few ‘mots d’apropos’ from time to time. Your post reminded me of the old tortoise and the hare story: “slow and steady wins the race”.
Not sure if that’s totally relevant, but it seemed like it. Think how glad you’ll feel when all these projects are done!

Heh heh - no problem there about helping me out. I have your parcel here ready to go - just tweaking it a little.

yes but the slow and steady knitting is always a good thing to fall back on, or have in a spare bag ready to grab as you rush out the door!

Always strange isn’t it with knitting….I suppose because we are all artists in a way and need that inspiration of colour and pattern and form etc…oh’er theres me off on one…well you know what I mean.

The aran’s looking good. I hope you carry on with that: I can’t believe that summer’s here to stay -yet.

I’d say the cable sweater is beautiful! However, I can understand not really feeling inspired to knit on it in the warm weather.

I love the pink you’ve used for your cable sweater.
Your mention of “Mr. Bean” reminded me of when my son was in second grade. We had rented a “Mr. Bean” movie, and my son loved making Mr. Bean faces, the goofy smile, etc. About that time, they had an awards ceremony at his school. The children would be called up in groups for different accomplishments. My son went up quite a lot….and everytime he stood with the other distinguished little children, he made Mr. Bean faces the entire time. I couldn’t believe that my usually well-behaved little boy was being such a clown. I just smiled and pretended not to notice that my son appeared to have a few screws loose.

I got it! I got it! I got it! Thanks so much, treater! I love everything you sent. What a great package. And yesterday was absolutely the best day to receive it. I was having a terrible day and you should have seen how my spirits were lifted, not to mention my blood sugar level. Thanks very much for being so generous and thoughtful. (I wrote a post about it just now on my blog.)
