Summer reading

Posted by Cheryl on Jun 28 2007 | The Kitchen Sink

In other words, I’m looking for advice.

It is easy for me to get into a rut. I read my nice little group of blogs and truly enjoy every word. I know there are zillions of other nice blogs to read but I have to confess, I get overwhelmed in the search for ‘em.

So, what would you suggest? Would you share your top three favourite blogs for good summer reading?

  1. Hi, I really enjoy reading your blog (found it via Cornflower) and would put forward these three as my favourite blogs:

Yarn Harlot ( http://www.yarnharlot.ca/blog) - always enjoyable, upbeat, thought-provoking and humorous. Plus lots of lovely pics of yarn and finished objects nestling among the flowers in Stephanie’s garden!

Samurai Knitter (www.samuraiknitter.blogspot.com) - this blog makes me laugh at least twice a week. Great observations on knitting, ancient history (the author is very knowledgeable on ancient Egypt), sci-fi, films, and family life.

Yarnstorm (www.yarnstorm.blogs.com) - only discovered this recently and it is a great and varied read. Well worth a visit.

Hope you find something of interest from these!

  2. Maire Ni N

one of my favourite blogs is Celtic Memory Yarns…..a lady called Jo who lives in West Cork and is a fibre fanatic, and travels a lot. She is a journalist, and her blogs are always interesting as she hunts down yarn shops all over. The photos of the Irish countryside may make you homesick for Ireland while you are on your hols!! Bon voyage, and see you in September.

  5. Just looking back at my comment and the 2nd one is not connecting from your blog. This blog is also called ‘curiosity corsetted the cat’. Just try typing the blog address yourself and it should connect.

    Hi Cheryl!
I’m currently enjoying this site: http://www.happiness-project.com/. Good tips every Wednesday.

http://www.cuteoverload.com, while not a blog, is hilarious and full of far more than your recommended daily amount of cuteness!

http://smartypants.diaryland.com/ - Mimi Smartypants cracks me up!

    Happy browsing!

  11. I have a sort of obsession with Scotland so I read several from there. One from Edinburgh Jean’s knitting and another from Orkney, Windswept. I agree with Maire about Celtic Memory Yarns. And there are other good Ireland based blogs. As the occasionally homesick expat I read several American based blogs. My favourite being Franklin Habit’s blog and Queer Joe’s blog. Let’s not forget Lene’s blog from northern Finland. Narrow it down to 3 favourites - that’s tough. Maybe my no. 1 favourite is Jean’s Knitting - a fellow New Englander living in the British Isles for many years.

  13. Well, I guess I can’t list yours then, can I? *g*

Hmm, I’ll add a few to your list and then check out the ones mentioned here that I don’t know about already.

Very difficult to choose only 3 favorites. You already have a lot of knitting blogs listed, so how about these -

    Sheep Thrills Farm - http://blog.sheepthrillsfarm.com/
    Habetrot - http://habetrot.typepad.com/habetrot/
    Talking About Weaving - http://talkingaboutweaving.blogspot.com/
