Words to live by
The challenge lies not in the knowing….but in the doing.
Pat-The-New-House-Builder is a quiet man. Fairly simple in his outlook. After a long summer of endless rain and being behind schedule, he seems at ease…rather unflappable. And so was my comment to him, an amazement of his lack of worry. His response went something like this…
“Someone told me once that you can worry and at the end of it all you’ll die. Or you can choose not to worry and then you die. So, I guess there’s no point in worrying.”
Simple yet effective wisdom.
Since I head it just yesterday evening at the concert of an Irish folk band, I thought you´d like to hear the full version of this, so here we go:
There are only two things to worry about:
Either you are well or you are sick.
If you are well, there is nothing to worry about.
If you are sick, Then there are only two things to worry about:
Either you will get well or you will die.
If you get well, there is nothing to worry about.
If you die. Then there are only two things to worry about:
Either you will go to heaven or hell.
If you go to heaven, there is nothing to worry about.
But if you go to hell, You’ll be so damn busy shaking hands with friends you won’t have time to worry anyway!

cool, I’m going to totally relax, take those words to heart and my stress migraine will disappear….. Although I also think of the band playing as the Titanic went down, sometimes it’s good to worry

Brings to mind a builder we once had (also called Pat) who was equally wise, when we mentioned we had noticed his van was untaxed, he replied nonchalantly “it drives just fine without it”.

Very true, very true…I wish the teachers who run everyone’s lives near midterm time took that to heart. Their goal in life is to make sure we all die within three years from a stress-induced heart attck. Thanks for the wonderful words of wisdom!
