Boho

Way deep down inside, I’m a bohemian wannabe…

…but in reality, there’s no way that’s gonna happen. (Actually, I have great hopes for Daughter-Kate as I think it’s more instinctive.)

Anyway, every once in a while I’ll delude myself into thinking that I can indeed pull this off and buy an article of clothing that pushes the envelope of everyday traditional fashion sense. And such was the skirt made of this…

Once the wannabe fog cleared, I realized that this would never do. It looked…

a) hideous

b) ridiculous

c) outrageous

d) disastrous

e) all of the above

In fact, I think it made me look a little like this…

I believe the technical term for this look would be ‘pudgy-with-a-hint-of-dumpy.’ But, still liking the fabric, it sat in a hopeful pile of other ‘fabrics-I-like-on-styles-that-will-never-do’ discarded purchases.

But now, it’s been rescued from the Island of Misfit Fabrics to become the backing for the long-awaited wonky-square-intarsia-experiment-cushion-cover.

Yep, ‘wearing’ the fabric in the best way to preserve everyone’s vision!

  1. Pillow looks great. Glad to see it’s made it’s way to the chair with a snazzy backing.

  2. I won’t even ask which way the stripes went on your body…but I’d be tempted by the colors too.

    Love the pillow!

How freakin’ fabulous is that pillow! Did you do it the log cabin way or was it intarsia? I love how you put colors together. I’m with you on the wanna be list of things to wear…I guess I’m old enough now that I can either wear it and sniff at those that hide their eyes, or try and preserve some humility and wear what’s appropriate. I think your fabric would be very charming as a skirt…my stripes would definately have to run vertical tho! Today is my 47th birthday and I bought myself a membership to the club…do you think that “Body Pump” class means that they will attach a hose to you and pump up your body in all the right places?…no, I didn’t think so either. Here’s to a first time for everything :)

  6. The cushion-cover turned out great. I love the mix of colors and shapes within the squares. I think this was an experient-gone-good.
I am doing a bit of that with a crochet (cough) hexagon granny square afghan that I started on Saturday…it’ll be my stability until I get Daughter Alex off to college in September. Waiting with baited breath if she will get accepted to either college applied for.

    Have a great Tuesday!

  7. The pillow is cool, but I still think you could have pulled that off as a skirt. Maybe just as trim next time — making sure the stripes are vertical — but I’d want it as a skirt, too!

  10. Don’t we all have a bohemian side to us that rarely gets to see the light of day? The fabric is cool, but i love the front you made!
