Synergy
Here’s a mathematical equation I’m wrestling with:
Sit (Knit + Weave + Spin) + Winter Weather + Home Baking = Unwanted Kilos
I don’t like to exercise. By that I mean, I don’t fancy going to the gym and running with futility on a machine. Would rather take a bullet. But, get me out walking, digging, hauling, tugging, shifting, moving, sweating—I’m okay with that. It’s called synergy. If, in doing chores, I inadvertently get my heart rate up and do a few arm reps, righty-o, that’s great. So, taking a synergy approach to this…
I walk the children to the bus stop each morning.

View of The Lodge on the journey home.
I live in a lovely Irish valley.
I don’t have to rush to the job commute.
The weather is getting noticeably brighter.

Beautiful, but oh so prickly, gorse
Why not take the long-way-scenic route home?
And why not take my camera along?

Ohhh! it looks so lovely, compared to the snow we are facing…lovely green…don’t worry about the extra pounds…they will come off as the weather gets better…right? (That’s what I keep telling myself!!!)

yeah, that is all gorgeous enough that with my camera i could be distracted to get a little cardio walk in!
I distract myself on my eliptical by putting a movie in the dvd, it usually works for about 30-40 minutes. Gladly now i have a decent walk twice a day to and from ferry landings on both sides of the water. A bonus when not raining!

I’ll admit that I’m jealous too.
Totally idyllic!

Good for you! Motivation to get the blood flowing and exercise in the winter is not always easy to find. Keep it up
You’ll feel better and have more energy

I think taking a walk outside (with or without the sun shining) makes my spirit lift abit more than just walking indoors. What beautiful views you have!

Wow, what a gorgeous region to live in. Would love to get there for holidays one day!

Yeah and the dogs don’t go flinging against the wall like they do with the treadmill…
Very pretty landscape. I mean, it’s 7:16 a.m. here on the east coast of the U.S., so that makes it — what — April there in Ireland?

I am so terribly behind on my visits to my blogging friends. Between being ill and the computer connection messing up, I wonder if I will ever catch up. Beautiful photos as usual.
Your photos and post of the fountain pen and ink brought back so many memories. That has always been me preferred writing tool. I even love the smell of the ink.
Thank you for sharing.

What a view…I love the snow where I live too much to give it up, (after last night’s snowfall, you could see every individual flake and the patterns on them! Beautiful!) but all of the breathtaking pictures on your blog make Dublin a close second! Also, I’m with you on the extra pounds. Tomorrow commences my health kick! Haha, good luck to us both. Keep finding time to post-I love your blog!

Thanks for sharing the pictures – they’re beautiful. It’s hard to believe that people actually live there, and it’s just not someplace on TV. I need to get out more, don’t I?

I did a very similar thing to you that day .. walking with my camera in rural Ireland … I stopped to take a photo of a beautiful scene … sun shining through fog onto a river … a car sped by me on the lane and I got drenched head to toe with icy pot hole water!!!! Once my €500 camera, mobile phone and even car radio had all dried out and still worked, I could laugh!!!
