Pretty in Pink
While other places are throwing back their blankets of winter white to reveal the good brown earth again, a stroll around the garden shows the blush of springtime in Ireland.
I do believe that pink is my favourite colour of flower.
And it’s a good thing, too, for ‘the pinks’ are in abundance these days.
Many US states boast the rhododendron as its official flower, yet I confess that I have never seen such gigantic tree-sized specimens until I came here.
And such is the sight that regularly greets me. In due time, the bits of pink and fuchsia and coral will blend into one continuous rosy wall. Really…it’s true! Why, look at an archived photo dug up from last year…
Not to be outdone, other blossoming trees also herald the coming of warmer temperatures and the brightness of longer days.

Beautiful pictures, thank you

Oh, how I long to see blossoms in Minnesota! At least it has stopped snowing, and we can go about without our coats.
Lovely photos, as always!

What beautiful pictures. I think I’d walk more often if I had such beauty to see.
Eh, who’m I kidding? I don’t walk more because I’m lazy! ;-Þ

As much as I love winter (really, I do!) there is nothing prettier than all the green things waking up again. Thank you for the beautiful pictures!

Ils sont tres belle, est je desire les fleurs rose a ma maison! (They are really pretty! I want pink flowers at MY house!) Pardon my french fetish, but I need to study for an upcoming state test and have been speaking it constantly, much to my family’s annoyance. Wow am I jealous. We just hit the 70’s early this week in upstate New York, but not too many blooms yet…I guess I’ll just have to be patient. Continue to post pics of blooms!

Gorgeous photos! I have to admit that I’ve never seen a rhododendron that big either, and I live where they’re plentiful.

Amazing pictures. There is a rhododendron preserve near my parents’ home in Northern California, but we never get to see them in bloom since we’re in school during that time.

They are beautiful! The farmer behind us has a small access road at the edge of his field/our small forest for them to get down to their small weekend home on the lake. The access road is lined with huge rhodies like those and they look like giant roses from my kitchen window, beautiful! Our poor trees and plants are all confused! Last saturday it was 81 out and all doors/windows were open, today we got snow! Go figure! How is the move coming along?
