		<description>Those are some really nice pics! I've been to Washington twice, and regardless I am as excited as ever to be going a third time with the rest of my grade next week. Be sure to check out the nurse's monument near the Vietnam Memorial. It's a beautiful representation!</description>

As I learned in elementary or middle school history, that was due to the work stoppage that occurred during one of the wars (possibly 1812 - but don't quote me on that). By the time they restarted and were able to finish construction, the stone had weathered enough that there was a clear demarcation.</description>
