Sort of a random trifecta thing…

Trifecta—‘Noun: a run of three wins or grand events, Origin:1970s from tri+perfecta’ —Oxford American Dictionary

Grand Event No. 1

Where there is life, there is hope.
It would appear that I haven’t assassinated the grape vine.
Might call for a bit of the bubbly…from the shop, not homemade…yet.
Need to begin fumigation with fungicide to prevent the little black rot bugger from returning.

Grand Event No. 2

Here is our work-in-progress.
The cottage, circa 1945.
Much still to be done to spruce it up but, as I remind myself, we’ve been here for approximately one month.
For friends across the sea, that flowering tree on the left is a crape myrtle.
Think I’d have bought the house for that alone.
Okay, not really, but it presents a very cheery face to passersby.

Grand Event No. 3

Today is Tuesday.
Today is my first visit to the local Farmer’s Market.
Gonna clear out the car boot with great expectations for good finds…

Cheryl…I have to say, I prefer the term “boot” over “trunk”. :)

    Love the cottage!

  2. Your cottage is darling! :-)

We have several crepe myrtles in our yard, as they are quite prevalent here in the southern US. Should you ever desire to plant more, they are SUPER easy to get going, and they grow fast. We have the fuschia colored ones like yours, as well as a huge white one, and a really pretty purplish colored one.

We’ve been enjoying the bounty from our local farmer’s market this summer. I’m sure going to miss all the tomatoes, canteloupes, watermelons, and peaches when they’re gone!

  3. the cottage looks very inviting! though it makes me wonder: when is a cottage a cottage - and not a house? is there a difference? we were called once that we don’t own a house, “only” a cottage:)

have fun on the farmer’s market - if you do get nice stuff, you could fill a few jars and bottles for the “pantry” (or whatever you would call storage shelves:)) - makes it look very cozy, I find!

    have a nice summer!

  9. I know this tree as a Lagerstroemia. We planted about 4 of them in Provence and they are just gorgeous. Like your cottage. I remember seeing a lot of bricks houses in Alexandria…yours is in wood ?

  10. It’s beautiful! It looks as though you have an established yard and beds, how nice! We just built our house last year, but we have lots of crape (crepe?) myrtles planted - white, siren (or sirene down here!) red and bright, dark pink. I love them!

  13. what a beautiful cottage and myrtle tree :)
I hope you did find lots of yummy things at the farmers market. My grapes are going mad at the moment, I think they are quite hard to kill completely :) Good luck with yours, they look well trained, unlike mine that have taken over the whole end of the greenhouse!
