Days are getting longer…and sunnier…and warmer…

Rats.

Don’t hate me, but could we postpone spring for just a bit?  Following distractions and diversions and complications, I’ve finally completed the great-for-dead-of-winter-extra-thick-and-wooly-generic-cabled-knee-socks but my perpetually cold tootsies are sweating at the mere thought of them right now.

So, if we can’t postpone spring, would you begrudge me an early cold snap later in the year?

  1. As someone who lives where the summers are horridly hot with about 75% humidity, I vote for postponing spring indefinitely, as I know it’s followed by summer. The rest of the country might hate me if I had the power to do such, though.

If your area’s anything like ours, you should get at least one more cold snap for spring unpacks her bags. I hope so, anyway, ’cause those socks are puuurty! ;-)

  3. Well, you can move to Maine – we got more snow overnight than we’ve ever had – I can’t even get out with 4WD and good clearance on my vehicle until we get plowed! No spring here for the foreseeable future. You can send the socks for me to test out for you. ;)

  4. No.

    Sorry.

    Socks are lovely.

    Don’t care.

    No. More. Winter.

(There is a woman who roams the streets of Strasburg who would wear those socks, no matter how hot it got. She’d wear it with a tutu. Dare to be different…)

  5. lol, as much as i love winter i think i am ready for spring. See growing up spring meant mud, actually called it mud season which was technically just before spring. Now though, our grass is green and almost in need of being cut, my seeds are waiting a few more weeks for planting, and my work is mellow….. i need spring for people to pull their sandals out and see their toes need me! So, i am looking for a great spring and long summer this year to have a great garden harvest as i felt quite jipped last year, sorry! smile

  6. Love the socks. They look so mossy! You must be missing Ireland. I was sorry to hear about the business of someone stealing your pattern. Did it all work out?

They’re beautiful — wish I had a pair myself — but you’re joking about the winter thing– right? Would you care to join me in Michigan where there seems to be no end in sight?

  11. I’m with you about postponing spring. I love the feeling of warm wool socks when it’s really cold outside.

  14. Winter socks that are the color of spring — perfect! Seriously, they are lovely. Come wear them in Minnesota, where there’s plenty of winter left and 6 inches of snow on the way …

  15. Ha! A woman at work wore the matching sweater to those socks yesterday. . . . Hair like yours. Matching karma knitting twins, maybe? Strange.

Thanks, Sisiggy, for the description of our lady in Strasbourg who would wear these socks – with tutu. What a word picture to start the day! love it. . . . .

As long as you keep winter only in the D.C. area. We’ve had quite enough cold here in Chicago, thank you very much! ;-)
