Captured in time…

…and a bit of a muddle.

This scene may not appear dire to you, barely jumbled for some, but those who know me understand organization is a hobby.  Well, more like a passion.  Okay, perhaps I’m a bit zealous.  Bordering on fervent.  With a wee bit of fanaticism thrown in.  Hey, it’s how I’m wired and if my space is jumbled in the least bit, so is my head!

So what does this picture tell me?

  1. That the IRS needs to actually see the tax return before forking over any sort of refund.
  2. That flower bulbs don’t really have tiny little shovels to burrow themselves in the ground.
  3. That morning coffee doesn’t taste nearly as good in a travel mug.
  4. That the stack of Mount Vernon reading material isn’t going down by merely looking at the pile.
  5. And that I’d better pass my ‘can you interpret this historical space’ test today so I can opt out of training the rest of the week and tidy this space.

So tell me, what do your surroundings say about you?

  1. My workspace was literally giving me an anxiety attack, so I attacked it this weekend. While not perfect, I made a serious dent in it and now have some peace again. I do not function at all in confusion. I must have order!

  2. Good luck with the historical interpretation test–I’m sure you’ll do brilliantly. And I completely agree with you about needing a tidy and organized space. It’s one of the tenets of Montessori philosophy: an organized space encourages an organized mind… K x

  3. Your picture looks very much like my desk — after I’ve tidied up. Oh, and there’s an obvious lack of cat laying on the keyboard, screwing up all your computer settings.

  4. “what do your surroundings say about you?”

    You don’t want to know.

(although you probably know already. . . .)

Maybe it’s that I don’t want to know!

    sigh. . . .

  5. smile, i have spaces! A small pile on the kitchen counter (sale flyers for the food store, a local coupon guide, mail still needing to be looked over before tossing into the recycling or shredder) a pile of library books on the dining room table, my pile of tax paperwork still being tallied and sorted through on the floor next to the fireplace, and my pile of new knitting magazines i am still looking through along with the current wip’s. I need to rid a few of these piles! Maybe today i can get the tax pile sorted and finished after work! good luck on your test!

Your clutter looks like order to me! However my taxes have been sent off. I cleaned out my knitting catch-all and a bag on my desk today and call it progress. But there is still clutter..a pair of socks in progress, cell phone, buttons, little bits of paper with information on them, cute little notes from my daughter (tell me what does an organized person due with children’s ‘I love you’ notes? I can’t bear to throw a single one away and I have loads of them tucked away here and there) an old stuffed dog my daughter wants mended, a stack of papers, a ruler, a mug of pens and a mug of double pointed needles, speakers, a square garter stitch coaster of sorts unevenly knitted by my daughter, head phones, scissors, tape dispenser, this computer….and I must say for me it looks relatively orderly.

  7. Oh no, I could have sworn those bulbs had little shovels. Darn it!

I am a bit of a tidy freak too, I can cope with a bit of clutter as long as it is organised clutter and I cannot think straight if I don’t have a clear desk/sewing space.

Sadly I am married to my total opposite……

  8. ha, I share my workspace up here – so it’s not my fault of course, if there is a mess!:) no, not if, when…. just blame someone else, that is my motto!

of course, the bulbs don’t come with shovels, but if they do get damp and close to soil, they put out roots and pull themselves into a proper growing space… but you’d have to bring them a tiny bit closer to the soil – I don’t think your desk is cluttered enough for them to find it on their own:))

  9. Too funny! I have my Abs Diet book sitting at my left, on my desk. I guess I have to read it before I can start it!! Thanks for the reminder that just holding it to my belly won’t make it happen!

  10. Good luck with the test, and congrats on the job. My workspace looks like yours

  11. Sadly my work space says:
    1. I need more space
    2. a much better filing system
    3. get to work on that script
    4. knit up that pattern already
    5. I should look into my income tax folder…soon.
